Extensive experience
Fair and impartial
a history of community service
Over 20 years ago, I began representing people and businesses in East Texas and across our great State. I have practiced in every area of law that comes before the District Court and have tried several cases to a verdict, including many in Angelina County. I am familiar with our courtrooms and the proud citizens that serve as our jurors. I feel these experiences have well prepared me for this position. I humbly ask for your vote to serve as 217th Judicial District Court Judge.

I plan to be a conservative, business-minded and fair judge. I believe a judge should carefully consider the law and apply it to the facts of a case before making legal decisions. I will use my strong business and educational background to efficiently manage the court's docket and our county's resources. I am also going to be a fair judge. No matter who you are or why you are in court, you deserve a judge that treats everyone equally and with respect. It is my intention to carry on the examples set by our current and former district judges in Angelina County and deliver fair, impartial and consistent justice.

The great lawyers who trained me believed a real trial lawyer should be able to grab a file and try a case to a verdict anytime, anywhere - no matter the complexity or subject matter. I have litigated and tried cases all over East Texas and after more than two decades of legal, leadership and public service experience, I will bring a rich mix of both technical knowledge and practical skills to the judge's seat.
Family Values
East Texas is important to me because this is my family's home. I have been married to my wife, Hilary Haglund Walker, since 2006, and we moved to Angelina County 17 years ago to start our family. Hilary was born and raised here, and while I didn't know this as a child, my maternal grandfather is from Shelby County. For a few years after we first moved to East Texas, I thought we were returning to Hilary's roots, when in fact mine run deep here as well.

We have two adventurous sons that attend public school in Lufkin, and I'm grateful they are growing up here in East Texas. When it comes to raising our children, my wife and I believe how we treat our neighbors and how we serve our community is critical in their upbringing. We believe in strong religious values and keeping family as the bedrock.
My boys and I spend a lot of time in the woods and on the water. I believe hunting, fishing and exploring are the best ways to teach them about life. Whether hunting in a blind, fishing from a boat or hiking on a trail, together we're appreciating God's natural gifts and sharing in the time-honored traditions of our family.
Community Commitment
Angelina County is strong because of its community, and I am dedicated to maintaining the tradition of giving back, an example well set by all our current and former judges. I have served on the board of CASA of the Pines almost continually since 2012 and twice as board president. I was honored when they proclaimed November 13, 2025 as Stephen Walker Day within the organization. I am also a graduate of Leadership Lufkin, a member of the Lufkin Host Lions Club, and proud to say that I have provided more than 2,000 hours of legal pro bono work and volunteer time since graduating from law school.
